Travel to School
For many school and college students accross Lincolnshire, your transport to school will be provided by Lincolnshire County Council. This may be on dedicated on contract services, specially provided local bus services, or on regular bus services provided by operators.

Centrebus is a major provider of contracted bus services in Grantham and the surrounding area, in many cases under contract to Lincolnshire County Council.  Further information about these services is provided below.

For some journeys, your travel will not be funded by Lincolnshire County Council. In these cases, you will need to purchase a season ticket directly from us in advance, or pay on the bus each day.

Citizencard

If you wish to claim discounted child fares (available on most service for children aged under 14), we encourage you to get a Citizencard as proof of age.  You may be required to pay the adult fare if there is doubt about your age, and you cannot prove it.  Having a Citizencard is a great way to avoid that.  For further information on how to get a Citizencard, visit www.citizencard.com

Max Respect

Max Respect is a County Council initiative that was launched in 2002 to promote and reward good behaviour on home to school travel. It had been noticed at the time that children were not treating the bus or taxi correctly and needed to be reminded that the roads are dangerous and need to be treated with respect, Max Respect!

You may have seen the Max Respect Officer in your school giving lessons on how to behave and stay safe, but did you know that Max Respect does much more than that:

  • Several competitions are held every year to promote safety on school transport, the Art and Design competition was held recently and you can see the winners of this year’s competition by clicking on the link on the right hand side of the screen!
  • We teach bus and taxi drivers to respect school children and make sure they drive safely every day!
  • We work with the police and other organisations to make sure we tackle any anti social behaviour on buses!
  • And much much more!

Max Respect isn't just for children, it works with schools, parents and bus operators to make sure that we are doing everything possible to keep your journey safe and enjoyable for everyone.

In recent years the initiative has achieved great success in reducing problems with behaviour on board taxis and buses and has received widespread acclaim for its contribution to child safety in Lincolnshire.

The Max Respect vision is that in the near future we can achieve a school transport service that is enjoyed and respected by the children who use it and operated safely by the people who run it - every journey, every day. For more information please visit www.maxrespect.org.uk.
